What’s left when things fail?

Life is unpredictable. Things fall apart, plans derail, and sometimes we lose everything we’ve worked so hard to build, or worse we lose loved ones, not in the order of age that we naturally anticipate. A profound truth emerges in these moments of loss and hardship: the most enduring wealth is not found in the material world. It’s found within, in the most eternal and loving, fortified capsule of our soul. Some call it our Divine Spark, and to use the term God, it is the piece of God or Source or Universal Consciousness that animates us and is core to our soul. Our divine spark is the form we arrived here with that first heartbeat, and it’s our form when we leave, at our last heartbeat. It’s within us, and it is us; it is an eternal flame, part of one bigger flame we call humanity.

We call it the Divine Spark because it ignites our soul and gives it a physical scale in a language we understand. Many sparks collectively make up a flame…that will never extinguish.

This essence, your spirit, is a wellspring of strength, inspiration, and peace. It is the only part of you that cannot be taken or harmed, no matter the circumstance. Not in this lifetime, or the last and not in the next.

But this connection to your spirit doesn’t just happen. As we grow into adults, its brilliant light can become shrouded. It requires nurturing, intention, and communion. It is always there, but as we enjoy and endure our human experience, we may neglect and forget to look within, to seek our spark. Through practices like meditation, self-reflection, and stillness, you create space to hear its whispers. You build a relationship with yourself that cannot be shaken, even when the storms of life rage around you.

When you’ve invested in your inner world—when you’ve spent time getting to know your true self—you cultivate a wealth that transcends the physical. This wealth becomes your anchor, your sanctuary, and your compass. You become unshakeable and compassionate. You know yourself and crave to know others more deeply. And you feel a surge of gratitude for every experience life has given you. It is a treasure beyond price, a light in the darkest moments, and a source of infinite possibility.

So, as you navigate your daily life, consider this: Are you spending as much time nurturing your inner world as you do chasing the external? The divine spark within you is waiting, always present, and infinitely valuable. It holds the key to your resilience, creativity, and peace.

Invest in it. Commune with it. Protect it. Because at the end of the day, when everything else fades, you will find yourself. And that self, that spirit, is enough. An insurance policy money can't buy.
